We are on the hunt for a dynamic Team Lead for Payment Operations to steer our team in Bangalore. This role calls for a driven individual who will not only ensure the precision and efficiency of our global payment operations but will also inspire and guide a team towards achieving operational excellence. 

As a Payments Operations Team Lead at Papaya Global, you will be spearheading our efforts to refine and execute flawless payment operations. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving the performance of our global payment processes and enhancing the strategic direction of our dynamic Finance team. 


  • Guide and mentor a team of Payment Operations Specialists. 
  • Drive the operation and processing of payments using methods such as SWIFT, SEPA, ACH, and Faster Payments. 
  • Supervise end-to-end global payment processing, maintaining accuracy and adherence to international regulations. 
  • Lead the execution, monitoring, and reconciliation of payments across various channels. 
  • Spearhead collaboration with payment service providers and financial institutions to refine payment processes and troubleshoot issues. 
  • Conduct analyses of payment operations, driving strategic improvements and promoting a culture of continuous enhancement. 
  • Investigate payment discrepancies, provide root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions. 
  • Evaluate and refine existing payment workflows to boost efficiency and user experience. 


  • Extensive experience in payment operations management, within a global workforce management or tech-driven entity. 
  • In-depth understanding of global payment mechanisms and a strong commitment to precision and regulatory adherence. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with payment platforms linked to HR and payroll systems 
  • Expertise in international payment conventions, currency nuances, and the global regulatory landscape. 
  • Payment or relevant field certifications are highly regarded.

Prior Role Expectations

  • Act as the primary contact for payment-related inquiries. 
  • Investigate and respond to payment queries from all stakeholders. 
  • Monitor payment execution and address any arising issues. 
  • Liaise with third-party payment providers for query resolution. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely system updates of payments/reports. 
  • Uphold excellent customer service standards. 
  • Foster collaboration within the payments and customer service teams during scale-up. 


  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM field. 
  • At least 6 years of experience in a financial services or customer-facing role, ideally B2B. 
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a team of operational specialists. 
  • Outstanding communication abilities. 
  • A proactive and creative approach to problem-solving. 
  • Capacity to multitask and perform under pressure. 
  • Detail-oriented mindset. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of payment systems and settlement cycles. 
  • Nice to have - Proficiency in tools like Salesforce , other ticking systems Microsoft Office suite.
