Americas

Brazil

The national minimum wage is now 1,212 Brazilian reals. 

Ecuador 

  • Payroll contributions and personal income tax rates have been updated.
  • The minimum wage for economic sectors is 425 USD per month.

APAC

Azerbaijan

Working days for 2022 are set at 241 days. The annual rate of working time in 2022 will constitute 1,921 hours for 40 hours of weekly work and will be applicable to both five-day and six-day working weeks. 

China

Payroll contributions in China, and personal income tax rates have been updated. 

EMEA

Bulgaria

The monthly minimum wage increases to BGN 710. 

Egypt

The minimum wage in Egypt is now set at 2,700 EGP for the public sector and for the private sector it is set at 2,400 EGP. 

Israel 

  • The monthly minimum wage in Israel is now 5,400 ILS and not less than 29.67ILS per h 
  • Payroll contributions and personal income tax rates have been updated.

The Netherlands

Payroll contributions and personal income tax rates have been updated. 

Portugal 

  • The national minimum wage in Portugal is now 705 EUR per month.
  • Payroll contributions and personal income tax rates have been updated.
  • Employers must have a written agreement in place if they want to enact remote work, and if there are 10 or more employees, the employees with children up to 8 years old are entitled to work under a remote work regime, (job and employer permitting)In addition, there is a new rule on contact outside of working hours whereby employers must refrain from contacting employees during their rest period, except in case of force majeure. 

Saudi Arabia

Payroll contributions and personal income tax rates have been updated. 

South Africa  

  • The minimum wage increased to 23.19 ZAR an hour.
  • Payroll contributions and personal income tax rates have been updated.

Turkey

The Gross minimum wage in Turkey increased to 5,004 TRY a month. 

The United Arab Emirates 

  • The new legislation will replace Federal Law No. 8 of 1980 (“Current Labour Law”) as of 2 February 2022. (referred to herein as the New Labour Law)
  • Following the introduction of the new labor law, employees can be required to utilize all annual leave in the applicable annual leave year and employers are now able to have a policy limiting carry-over of leave at their discretion.
  • All female employees are eligible for maternity leave. Employees who have completed one year of service are entitled to 60 days. The new 2022 labor law confirms that employers may not terminate, or threaten to terminate, a female employee’s employment because she is pregnant or on maternity leave.
  • The new labor law introduces two new leave types:
    • Compassionate leave
      • 5 days in the event of the death of an employee’s spouse;
      • 3 days in the event of the death of an employee’s mother, father, son, brother, sister, grandson, or grandparent.
    • Study Leave
      • For employees affiliated/studying with an approved UAE education instruction, they will be entitled to 10 days of study leave once they have completed 2 years of service.
  • New Labour Law now requires a minimum of 14 days’ notice when terminating an employee on probation.
